Yo Yo Honey Singh: I see a part of me in every Raw Star

Sunday, 28 September 2014 | 12:10 pm

Yo Yo Honey Singh can't stop raving about singing reality show, India's Raw Star's contestants. As the competition hots up, he talks about his television debut, host Gauahar Khan and what's in store for the viewers...

You've made your TV debut with Star Plus' India's Raw Star. How has the experience been so far?
Great! It's been a crazy, overwhelming and totally amazing experience for me. TV is the most powerful medium, which has taken me right into the homes of so many people. We put in a lot of hard work and passion in making something entertaining and hat ke. We have delivered on the promise of the show, which is originality — be it original compositions or the contestants' unique styles, the musical choreography or the superb visual appeal. Often, we see reality show winners get their 15 minutes of fame and then fade into oblivion..The reason I decided to do this show was that it's a hunt for original performers, who are not imitating singers, but singing their own compositions as well. Many of these artistes even write their own songs and will continue to be popular due to their originality and unique style.

Shahid Kapoor: Good looks alone can’t sell a film

He came to Ahmedabad during Navratri seven years back, and his career took an upward turn when his then to be released film Jab We Met went on to become one of the biggest hits of his career.

And now that he came visiting yet again during Navratri to promote his upcoming film Haider, Shahid Kapoor accepted that the festival has a special place in his life. In Ahmedabad to attend a garba event organized by Radio Mirchi, Shahid talked about a host of things close to his heart in a free wheeling chat:

From your last visit, which was during the promotions of Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, you seem to be in a different zone. I am in a very different zone, indeed. We have also had a very hectic schedule promoting the film, something that you commit when you sign a film even if you don't want to. And you end up working equally hard during the promotions as you do while making the film. And I think it is necessary as well since there is so much riding on you. You don't want to disappoint the people who have trusted you and put so much on stake just on your trust.
